Dear Tenure Track CAHSS Faculty Member:
I am a graduate student in the Language, Literacy and Culture Program. I write asking your participation in a research study on faculty diversity at this institution. The purpose of this study is to examine faculty diversity initiatives at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, a historically diverse institution. The study will use a qualitative case study design to explore how these initiatives are perceived among tenure-track faculty and administrators within the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (CAHSS).
As part of the study, I am asking all tenure-track CAHSS faculty to complete an on-line qualitative survey. The survey is completely voluntary and anonymous. It will not contain information that may identify you. Specifically, the survey does not ask for names or department affiliations but only tenure track confirmation and racial/ethnic self-identification. All data will only be reported in the aggregate. The survey should take about 12 minutes to complete. I would sincerely appreciate your participation. Please click the link at the bottom of this email to begin the survey. If you would like to speak with me directly, please call my cell phone at 410-262-2850 or email me at sstocks1@umbc.eu. You may also contact my faculty adviser, Dr. Mavis G. Sanders, at 410-455-2738 (msanders@umbc.edu). Thank you for your time and consideration.
Very Best,
Shawntay Stocks, ABD
