Hello Retrievers! I hope everyone is still keeping calm and carrying on. Just to remind you—all of the Academic Success Center resources are online, including SI PASS!

SI PASS sessions can help you improve your understanding of concepts, develop study strategies, and practice and prepare for exams.

Sessions will be offered at their previously scheduled times through the Blackboard section of your course. You can access it by going into your Blackboard section and clicking the link for the online collaborate session.

SI PASS is a great resource for helping you extend beyond the classroom and a great way to work with others to achieve academic success.

We made it through the first week of the semester, so let's talk about a great resource that can help you be successful: SI PASS!

SI Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) are weekly review sessions led by trained student leaders. Not only have SI PASS leaders succeeded in the course before, but they also attend classes along with you so they can help you be successful. 

The best way to find out more about SI PASS is to attend a session! SI PASS exists for select BIOL, CHEM, ECON, MATH, PHYS, and SPAN courses. For session times, please check with your SI PASS leader.

It's the part of the semester when grades are finally starting to show up. How do you feel about where you are right now? Are we doing amazing? That's great! Are we doing not so amazing? That's okay! The Academic Success Center has plenty of amazing resources for you to be successful. And one of those amazing resources is SI PASS!

If you're still unsure about trying SI PASS, data show that students who attend SI PASS sessions are more likely to earn higher grades in their courses than students who do not attend sessions.

Hi Retrievers! Despite the nice weather, the semester is progressing quickly. And while visions of Halloween costumes and Pumpkin Spice might currently be dancing in your head, we at the Learning Resources Center are thinking about midterms!

Yes, the dreaded ‘M’ word! The most recent marker of your achievement in your courses! Everything that you’ve learned this semester has been leading up to this moment! Are you prepared?

We’re sure some of you have already signed up for weekly appointment tutoring (you can now do so through our Facebook page! Just click the sign up button). We know some of you have been regularly visiting our Math Lab and Writing Center.

But for those of you who have the option, have you tried PASS_S.I.?

PASS_SI are peer assisted study sessions conducted by S.I. leaders. PASS_SI leaders are trained students who have taken the class before and passed with a high grade. At a PASS_SI session, leaders will guide students through core concepts of the course and will share the strategies they used to be successful in the course.  The study sessions are informal seminars where students review notes, discuss readings, develop organizational tools and prepare for examinations.

 

S.I. is designed for courses that have been considered historically difficulty. Currently, S.I. if offered for BIOL 141, BIOL 142, BIOL 302, BIOL 303, CHEM 123, GES 120, MATH 150, and PHYS 121. If you are currently in those courses, check out the S.I. schedule to find the best session for you!
