Information regarding a scholarship that may be of interest to you is posted below. 

The Gowda Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship awarded to in-state students interested in pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, with preference given to residents of Prince George's County or students who graduated from a high school in the county. The scholarship will be merit based, although financial need may also be considered.

Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science (PPS)

The Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science improves health care through innovation, collaboration and advocacy to achieve excellence in pharmacy education, practice and research. 

Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PSC)

The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences is a recognized leader in the field of drug discovery and development. The interdisciplinary faculty with expertise in structure-based drug design, pharmacogenomics, proteomics, metabolomics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacometrics and nanotechnology are advancing basic and applied science in the enhancement of human health and well-being.

There are a few events with the University of Maryland, School of Pharmacy AMPM (APhA-ASP Maryland Pre-Pharmacy Mentorship) students for this semester!

On Tuesday, March 10th Mock Interviews will take place from 6-8pm at the University of Maryland, School of Pharmacy gallery. This will be the perfect opportunity to gain some interviewing skills and learn more about how the interviewing process works! Please use this link to sign up for the Mock Interviews.

On Friday, March 27th there will be a St. Patrick's Pharmacy Social on our campus from 6-8pm. It will take place in room 120 of the Biology Building (BIOL 120). This event will give you all a chance to meet/network with Pharmacy students from the University of Maryland, School of Pharmacy and engage in some fun activities! This event is a potluck, so please use this sheet to sign up for the potluck. The flyer is attached.

Lastly, there will be a PharmCAS workshop in April, so stay tuned for more information regarding that! Hope to see you at these events.

the Office for Academic & Pre-Professional Advising has openings available for summer Orientation Advisors! As an advisor, you would attend Orientation sessions where you would meet with students one-on-one to plan out and register for classes. No previous experience is required, and we will provide all training necessary!

Besides compensation, this is an excellent opportunity to gain professional and interpersonal experience. Depending on your field, your time as a student may not open you up to many client-facing interactions, and this is a pathway to gaining that experience. If you are considering a career in academia, meanwhile, advising experience is highly sought-after in faculty openings.

Finally, if you are a graduate student with an existing assistantship, you will be required to submit a “Request for Additional Employment” along with your application by the same date.
