We hope everyone is having a great week so far. Thank you to those who were able to come out and join us for our first GBM of the semester. It was so nice to meet all of you, and we hope to see you at next month's GBM! If you have any questions or concerns before then, you can always reach us via GroupMe.

As a member of the Pre-Pharmacy Society we want to invite you to the Walk To End Alzheimer's. This is a collaboration event with the Students of Applied Behavior Analysis Society (SABAS) to raise awareness for Alzheimer's disease and raise money for research in the field. The Walk will take place on Saturday, September 21st, at 10am. If you are interested in joining the walk please fill out the interest form by Tuesday, September 17th by 8pm. We will be able to offer rides to Centennial Park from UMBC. More information can be found in the interest form. This is a chance to get some volunteering experience to add to your resume! We hope to see you all there!

Hello everyone, and welcome back to the Fall 2024 semester!

Thank you to everyone who came out to see us at Involvement Fest. We look forward to getting to know you more over the next few months! Our first GBM is scheduled for Wednesday, September 18th, from 12-12:30pm during free hour in Sondheim 112.

This meeting is open to everyone, whether you’re following the Pre-PT pathway or are simply interested in the field.
We will be introducing ourselves, getting to know you all, going over goals for the club, and highlighting future meeting topics. We hope to see everyone there!

Have you ever wanted to learn CPR, Basic First Aid, or how to use an AED? Are you part of a department or club/student organization and want to feel prepared for any emergency? 

Now is your chance!

The Emergency and Disaster Health Systems (EDHS) and the Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) departments are now offering training in these skills. Participants will complete the coursework online and then attend a one-day hands-on, skills training and testing class.

All are welcome!

One (1) opening for general office/clerical assistant for the Department of Emergency and Disaster Health Services and PACE. 

Responsibilities

• Answering phones
• Greeting visitors and students to the department
• Running errands for the department
• Assist in keeping website and department announcement displays up to date
• Data entry & compiling packets for the continuing education section
• Scan, photocopy, fax, and/or email documents for digitization project
• Work to assist faculty or staff on special projects

Required Qualifications

• Good phone presentation with clear speaking voice
• Ability to multitask
• Available for blocks of time during work week
• Punctual and Dependable
• Detail Oriented
• Ability to handle confidential information
• Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and ask questions for clarification
• Good computer skills including, attention to detail (spelling, grammar, formatting).
• Knowledge of following software programs: Word, Excel, and e-mail
• Willingness to learn aspects of the program so to enhance the caller’s experience, answer basic information questions and/or direct them to the correct person within the department

Preferred/Additional Qualifications 

• Website experience (Word Press)
• Prior office work experience

Two (2) opening as Simulation Laboratory Assistant for the Department of Emergency and Disaster Health Systems (EDHS).

Responsibilities in EDHS clinical lab

• Assist in maintaining and cleaning equipment.
• Assist in lab equipment inventory organization.
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness/ organization in the lab space.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Required Qualifications

• No specific lab skills are required. The person chosen will be trained in all aspects of the work
• A general understanding of lab equipment safety is required
• Good organizational skills
• Dependable & responsible
• Able to communicate well with people
• Must be able to work independently when given a task

Preferred Qualifications

• Academic background in emergency health systems or other health field
