Welcome back! I hope your semester is off to a great start. The Ancient Studies Council have a great slate of events planned for this fall, and we can’t wait to share them with you. My name is Matthew Haworth, and I am the president of the Ancient Studies Council. Our vice president is Spencer Beck, our secretary is Gobby Caggiano, and our treasurer is Louis Witt.
Involvement Fest is Money, September 9 at noon, in Erickson Field, and we will be there to talk about Ancient Studies and the major, so please stop by!
The Ancient Studies departmental meet and greet and pizza party is next Wednesday, September 11, in PAHB 441. Learn about everything the department have planned!
Additionally, the Ancient Studies Council have events of our own planned. As each event draws nearer, we’ll announce dates and locations for each of these.
- Our first event will be an evening of magic and witchcraft with Dr. Jones-Lewis. We’ll be making curse tablets and learning about the place they had in ancient society.
- Next, we’ll be hosting a movie night, with a brief and topical lecture relevant to whichever film we choose to watch.
- Finally, since last year’s Dungeons & Dragons event was so popular, we will once again be hosting an ancient history-themed D&D session.
As details become more concrete, expect announcements for all of these events. Please feel free to tell your friends and invite them to experience all that Ancient Studies has to offer!
