As we approach the start of a new semester, we hope you will make time to participate in two special community events: Fall Opening Meeting and Convocation.
Fall Opening Meeting, which will be held on August 21 in the Retriever Activities Center, will give faculty and staff a chance to learn about upcoming initiatives and hear the stories of students who are beginning their journeys. It is also a great time to reconnect with your peers—and to meet new members of the community. Please RSVP here to confirm your attendance.
Convocation, which will take place on August 26 at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena, is a longstanding tradition at UMBC when we welcome incoming students to our UMBC community. Convocation is a wonderful way of kicking off the school year and a great reminder of our mission. Faculty and staff who wish to march in the procession can register here. Although the deadline for ordering regalia has passed, you may wear your own. Those who wish to volunteer as event staff can register here. Those registered for Convocation may also join us for a Welcome Back Reception, hosted by President Sheares Ashby at 2:30 p.m. in the arena just before the ceremony.
