Wine Tasting Meetup!
who's interested?

Hi UMBC
Do you love wine but hate spending a fortune to try new things? or are you clueless about wine but would like to learn more? i've been working in a large wine store in Ellicott City(Jason's wine and Spirits) for over a year and have become totally engrossed in the subject. the diversity of wine is astounding, and as someone who gets paid to know about, and recommend wines, i still have only scratched the surface of what there is to learn. not to mention buying a couple decent bottles a week to try is not cheap. Here's my plan:
if i could find a handful of interested people, we could schedule a meetup where each person could bring a bottle of wine to share with the group. i think this would be a great way to meet new people, learn a lot, and save money at the same time. this is not an excuse to get stupid drunk, but i'd like it to be fun. learning to understand how a wine is structured(acidity, sweetness, tannins, grape blendings) makes drinking the wine that much more enjoyable. everyone's palate is different.
again, whether you're already passionate about wine, or it's something you want to get into, please reply if you're at all interested!
PS currently drinking an '09 Earthquake Petit Sirah.
