10/27 Online Skills Courses Info Session Get the scoop on Winter & Spring 2023 Skills Courses!
In Winter and Spring 2023, Community Leadership will offer 4 Skills Courses -- Digital Storytelling, Asset-Based Community Development, Restorative Practices, and Social Justice Leadership and Dialogue. Each course offers the chance to take a deep dive into a specific community leadership skill with subject-matter experts.  

The Digital Storytelling Course will take place over three full days in January (1/9-1/11) while the other courses will meet once a week, on Wednesday evenings, for 5 weeks in the Spring Semester.  

Graduate students enrolled at UMBC will receive one credit for each completed course.  Ongoing learners (within or outside UMBC) can take the courses for personal growth and professional development -- no graduate school enrollment required!

We’re excited for the upcoming Baltimore by Baltimore festival on Saturday, September 3rd from 12pm-8pm (link)   This month’s BxB will have a special focus on supporting our young creatives in Baltimore.  The Five Pillars of Hip Hop theme will feature amazing local talent, makers, and entrepreneurs brought to us by Media Rhythm Institute. This will be the 4th event in our 6 month festival series and it is exactly the kind of creative, inclusive, locally-sourced celebration of homegrown Baltimore talent and culture that we hoped for in Reimagining the Harbor (link)  

What are you doing this Labor Day Weekend?  First and foremost, mark your calendars, spread the word and plan to Come to the Baltimore Inner Harbor on Saturday Sept 3rd between 12-8pm to enjoy, connect, and celebrate at BxB.

But that’s not all…We need Volunteers to help us out during the event too! We’re happy to be partnering with Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore (the Festival organizers) and hope you’ll consider jumping in and joining us to make the festival a big success!  Please check out the info below and follow up asap.  Drop me a line if you have questions...

What:  Volunteer at Baltimore by Baltimore (volunteers will help us with survey outreach, and with other Waterfront Partnership event coordination needs) 
When: Saturday Sept 3rd.  (Choose a two hour time frame 12-2pm / 2-4pm / 4-6pm / or 6-8pm for your volunteer shift; and you’ll also be able to walk around and enjoy the festival too).
