Who is our speaker?
Steve
Chan has been an active member of ISSA-Baltimore since early 2008, and
has helped Kevin Newman, VP of Education, with the ISSA Baltimore CISSP®
Study Group.
Steve
graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Bachelors in Biology in
1975 and a Masters in Computer Science in December 1980.
Steve
is currently working as an Information Security Officer for the US
Treasury Department in the office of the Comptroller of the currency,
and has worked in the past for George Washington University, Sun
Microsystems, Uniprime Systems, Dataflow Technologies, Computer Products
Research Corporation, and Westinghouse Advanced Technology Labs.
Contracting
work has been done at Orbital Sciences, Black and Decker, US Bureau of
Engraving and Printing, IBM, AT&T, EDS, Paradyne, and numerous other
organizations.
Professional
work has included both people management and project management in
information security, wireless networking systems, IT infrastructure,
systems engineering/design, computer service/repair/installation,
disaster recovery/business continuity, compliance, benchmarking, and
expert witness work under oath in federal procurement cases.
Information
Security work has included managing teams that examined and secured
computers to protect against identity theft and any violations of GLB,
HIPPA, SOX, FERPA, DMCA, PCI/CISP, and CFAA across multiple departments
and organizations.
