Bank Street Library Salon
Book talk byDr. Laurie Rabinowitz and Dr. Amy Tondreau
The Bank Street College of Education is hosting Dr. Laurie Rabinowitz and Dr. Amy Tondreau for a virtual book talk of our recent publication, Sustaining Cultural and Disability Identities in the Literacy Classroom, K-6. The event will be moderated by Dr. Amy Stuart Wells.
It will also feature the deeply thoughtful NYC special educators and book contributors, Charlotte Maltby (Bank Street GSE ’24) and Todd Lavine (Bank Street GSE ’23). We'll share the amazing work that elementary school teachers are doing to embrace the multidimensional identities of disabled students in their classrooms.
At a time when Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act is under attack and oversight of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) may move from the U.S. Department of Education to the Department of Health and Human Services amidst the secretary's problematic and misguided views of Autism, we hope this conversation will offer community and solidarity.
