CSTA (the Computer Science Teachers Association) recently published a report called Bugs in the System: Computer Science Certification in the U.S. Those of you who are thinking about a career in teaching, or just wondering how one goes about becoming a CS teacher, may be surprised to learn how much the certification requirements vary across the country.
CSTA is a great source of information about CS education, and I encourage all of you to join the national organization as well as our local Maryland chapter. You do not need to be a CS teacher to join -- you just need to have an interest in supporting CS education and teachers at the K-12 level. Membership is free, but you must join the national organization in order to be a member of the Maryland chapter. Visit the CSTA-Maryland website and click "Become a Member" to join (this chapter registration page also has a link to join the national organization).
