I am looking for a half-time undergraduate assistant who would like to join the "CS Matters in Maryland" team this summer. We will be working with a cohort of 14 master high school CS teachers to create a curriculum for a new AP course called "CS Principles." Job duties will be varied, but may include contributing ideas and providing feedback on lesson plans and proposed class activities, event planning and logistics, meeting preparation, proofreading/editing curriculum materials, analyzing survey data for the research part of the project, and writing meeting summaries and reports. The work schedule will be flexible but you must be available on specific dates (in particular, the two residential teacher workshops, which will be held from June 22-27 and July 27-30).
You should have completed CMSC 201 and 202 (preferably with a 3.5 GPA in those classes as well as an overall 3.5 GPA or higher), and should be able to provide references who can vouch for your reliability, time management, communication skills, and ability to work on a team. CS majors or minors are preferred, but other students with a strong interest in CS and CS education are welcome to apply.
Please contact me directly if you are interested in the position or would like more information. If you would like to apply for the position, send me your resume, an unofficial transcript, and the names and email addresses of two references.
Please feel free to forward this announcement to other students who may be interested.
