They are a non-profit working in Baltimore communities for over 20 years, and are deeply committed to service.</div><div><br></div><div>Their programs deliver tangible results through a combination of job training, skills development and community service.</div><div><br></div><div>They succeed by harnessing the energy and dedicated commitment of our AmeriCorps members, staff, volunteers, sponsors, partners, and most importantly, the communities in which they work.</div><div><br></div><div><strong>Position</strong>: <u>Education Intern</u></div><div><u><br></u></div><div><div>Real Food Farm is seeking an enthusiastic individual to assist with education programming and program development. The candidate should have experience working with youth of diverse ages and backgrounds in an experience-based setting. Knowledge of farming, agriculture, and/or environmental education would strengthen the candidate’s application but is not required. The Education Intern will be supervised by the Education Coordinator, and will work as part of a team as well as individually when completing projects and facilitating activities with youth. Students seeking a degree related to education, public health, nutrition, or a related field are encouraged to apply. Afternoon work hours are preferred; some Saturdays are required.</div><div><br></div><div>Responsibilities include:</div><div>•    Helping to plan a high school youth summit about food justice, planned for April 30, 2016. This will include regular meetings with our high school youth crew and planning partners to determine the workshops, meals, and outreach to participants.</div><div>•    Helping to plan and facilitate a day of hands-on urban agriculture workshops on May 7, 2016.</div><div>•    Facilitating field trip and service learning activities alongside other farm staff.</div><div>•    Up to 4 hours weekly, depending on interest, assisting the production staff on the farm.</div><div>•    Other responsibilities designated by the Education Coordinator.</div><div><br></div><div>This position is funded by the Shattuck Family Internship Program for Entrepreneurship Innovation and Social Change.  You are required to intern for at least 120 hours (8-10 per week) and will be paid a total of $1,500 (divided into two payments).</div></div><div><br></div><div><strong>To apply, search job number 9280857</strong>

Students are matched with faculty mentors based on interests. The Statement should indicate why you feel REU participation would benefit you and your future plans; also, describe how you believe you can contribute to your mentor’s research topic. If applicable, you are welcome to describe prior undergraduate research experience, as well as any other information that you feel may be useful to our assessment. Finally, please indicate if you have a preferred mentor or topic area. (Note, however, that final mentor assignment occurs after selection of participants.)</li><li><u>Your current college transcript(s)</u>:<br>A scanned copy of an official transcript is acceptable; please scan with at least 200 dpi resolution and format as a PDF file. Research assistants will collaborate with advisers to contribute to unmanned flight!   <Title>Summer Engineering Co-op with First Energy</Title>

    <div class="html-content">As an Engineering Co-op, you will also have the opportunity to participate in the Co-op/Intern Professional Development Program, which is designed to cultivate professional skills and provide professional level work at FirstEnergy.           <p>This talk will provide an overview of current programs and activities related to Big Data and Data Science at NSF, and also highlight NSF’s inter-agency engagements in this topic area. The talk will also discuss future directions for Data Science research, education, and infrastructure. Considering that Data Science is a rapidly emerging, evolving field and discipline, ample time will be provided for Q&amp;A and discussions about where the field ought to be going, given what we know today.<br>
          <a href="http://acid.sdsc.edu/users/chaitan-baru" rel="nofollow external" class="bo">Dr. Chaitan Baru</a> is currently a senior advisor for data science in the Computer and Information Science and Engineering Directorate at the National Science Foundation. He is a Distinguished Scientist and Associate Director of Data Initiatives at the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC), UC San Diego where he works on applied and applications-oriented research problems related to data management and data analytics.</p>
          <p>Dr. Baru has participated in a number of “data cyberinfrastructure” initiatives, including as Principal Investigator of the OpenTopography project; Cyberinfrastructure Lead, Tropical Ecology, Assessment and Monitoring network; Co-Investigator of the Cyberinfrastructure for Comparative Effectiveness Research project; Member of the founding Senior Management Team of the National Ecologial Observatory Network and Co-PI of the NEON Cyberinfrastructure Testbed; Co-PI of the CUAHSI Hydrologic Information Systems; Director, NEES Cyberinfrastructure Center; PI/Project Director, Geosciences Network; and member of the How Much Information? project.</p>
          <p>Baru leads the Advanced Cyberinfrastructure Development Group at SDSC and is also Director of the Center for Large-scale Data Systems research. Prior to joining SDSC in 1996, Baru was at IBM, where he led one of the development teams for DB2 Parallel Edition Version 1 and at the University of Michigan, where he served on the faculty of the EECS Department. He received his B.Tech in Electronics Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, and M.E. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Florida, Gainesville.</p></div>
