The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is looking for Science Interns

Background:
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) is the largest regional non-profit conservation organization working solely to save the Bay. Established in 1967, CBF has a staff of approximately 185 employees working in offices in Annapolis Maryland; Richmond and VA Beach, Virginia; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and Washington, D.C., and in 15 field education program locations. Our staff and volunteer corps work throughout the region educating students and adults, advocating for clean water polices, restoring waterways, and litigating when necessary.
CBF's headquarters office in Annapolis, MD is the Philip Merrill Environmental Center, the world’s first U.S. Green Build Council’s LEED platinum building. In 2014, CBF opened The Brock Environmental Center in Virginia Beach, VA. The Brock Center is one of the most energy efficient, environmentally smart buildings in the world.
CBF has an annual budget of approximately $21 million and is supported by more than 200,000 members and e-subscribers. For more information on CBF please visit

The Position:
The Science Intern will assist Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Maryland Senior Scientist with several ongoing projects including but not limited to: Field data collection to support Blue Carbon and Coastal Resiliency pilot projects in the lower Eastern Shore, partnership building to support Outstanding Natural Resource Water designations in Charles County, review and comment on the Mallows Bay National Marine Sanctuary Environmental Impact Statement and outreach on Atlantic sturgeon critical habitat designation in Maryland.
Throughout the internship, there will also be opportunities for participation in oyster restoration activities, advancement of beneficial and innovative uses of dredged material and other Maryland office activities that showcase the interactions between science and policy. It is important that you have a drive to ‘Save The Bay’ and that these activities augment your academic program in a way that will advance entry level science career opportunities. Applicants should be comfortable in and around the water and on large/small vessels.

As a co-op, you will operate under a rotational program, alternating semesters of full-time work with full-time study from entry in to the program until graduation. We require a minimum of 52 weeks of co-op work experience prior to graduation. During your work tour, you will work a regular 40-hour week. Each work tour is designed to reveal the specific areas you may want to focus on as a career. Qualified majors include: Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security, and Chinese-focused majors.

The Dean of Medical Education's Inaugural Academy for Research, Clinical, and Health Equity Scholarship (ARCHES) is a six-week program for six undergraduate students who are rising juniors and seniors interested in pursuing medical studies.

This program will engage selected participants in:

* Immersive service at Georgetown University

GUSOM ARCHES aims to strengthen the research and clinical skills of promising undergraduate students and prepare them for successful matriculation into medical school.
DESCRIPTION:
Dates: Monday, June 28 - Friday, August 11, 2017
Summer Stipend: $4,000 ($2,000 paid after the first 3 weeks - $2,000 paid conclusion of program)
Housing: On-Campus housing at Georgetown University - Same gender double-occupancy rooms
Travel: Awarded up to $250 per student on a case by case basis by the Georgetown Office of Diversity & Inclusion

Digital Archives Internship Available
Intern with Full Circle Photo
If you're interested in digital archives consider applying to work as an intern with Full Circle Photo. As a digital archives intern you will assist in the acquisition, maintenance, and organization of several thousand image collections.
Your duties will include acquiring images using virtual drum technology, data entry, file transfers, color management, and metadata input. You will also utilize Phase One capture equipment and Digital Transitions Cultural Heritage software.
