Known Issue: Blackboard Supported Browsers DoIT staff have received a number of reports from faculty and students regarding incompatibilities between Blackboard and some of the newer versions of web browsers. Examples include the gradecenter not loading completely, documents not being accessible, and quiz links not working. As previously reported, the version of Blackboard we run (Bb Learn 9.1 SP 2) is fixed, whereas web browsers are not. DoIT has scheduled this removal for Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 3 p.m. No downtime will be required. Instructors are encouraged to download and keep a copy of the Grade Center for any affected courses. Instructors may also archive an entire course, and keep a local copy for their records. Bb shells were created for all courses (designated as lecture, lab, or discussion) listed in the UMBC Schedule of Classes (SOC), provided that there was an instructor of record listed. The addition of new course sections and instructors will result in new Bb shells being automatically generated each morning. Student enrollment in Bb will continue to mirror the official registration in SA, and will update multiple times daily. If you are an instructor, and your name is not associated with the course you are teaching in the SOC, please see your departmental scheduling coordinator to get that issue resolved. Additionally in situations where one instructor is teaching multiple sections of the same course, by default all sections will be combined into one Bb course shell. It was restarted as of 9 am Thursday, June 9. Typically the Blackboard servers receive students enrollment data from the SA system multiple times daily; in this instance the data feeds were no longer being sent from SA to Blackboard. DoIT staff are working to identify the cause of this error.
