Partner Event: Masculinity as a Tool: Transmasculine Performance as the Art of Negotiation Across Drag, Ballroom, and Social Space
Join the "Masculinities in the Americas" seminar for a powerful conversation with Luciano Anahel as we explore Masculinity as a Tool: Transmasculine Performance as the Art of Negotiation Across Drag, Ballroom, and Social Space. This event invites participants to reflect on how masculinity can be performed, reworked, and mobilized across artistic and social contexts, centering trans experiences that challenge normative frameworks. Grounded in drag, runway, and experimental performance, Luciano’s work opens space for critical engagement with gender, identity, and resistance while remaining deeply connected to community-based cultural production.
Through Luciano’s perspective as a Latin American performer, the session also offers a lens to engage masculinities from the Global South, bringing into focus how histories, politics, and cultural contexts shape the ways masculinity is embodied, negotiated, and contested. The conversation invites participants to engage, reflect, and reimagine masculinity not as a fixed identity, but as an evolving practice shaped through lived experience, creativity, and global interconnected realities.
