The incumbent will provide administrative support to the Department Chair, as well as the department’s faculty and staff.
Specific duties include: setting up meetings; handling course scheduling, grade changes, class lists, textbook adoptions, and key control; disbursing mail and other documents; overseeing parking requests, departmental room control, and rosters; preparing contracts for part-time faculty, and external stakeholders; handling faculty promotion and tenure processing, and faculty searches; providing front desk support, which includes fielding general phone inquiries; maintaining scholarship applications, posting employment announcements, assisting with faculty searches, and performing other duties as assigned.
- General knowledge of and skill in the practical application of generally accepted office practices and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to proofread and edit written documents.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to interact effectively with internal and external parties in a courteous and efficient manner.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute multiple and continuing assignments with general instructions.
