February 2020, Baltimore – The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) is reaching out to Concordia University – Portland (CU-P) students. CU-P recently announced that it would be permanently closing. As Inside Higher Ed reports, the closure leaves CU-P students unsure about how they should complete their degrees. After learning about the situation, the UMBC Graduate School along with its TESOL program worked quickly to put a procedure in place so CU-P TESOL students can finish their degrees at UMBC.
The UMBC TESOL program, ranked among the top ten TESOL programs nationwide by Best Colleges and Intelligent, is well poised to help since it already offers its master’s degree in TESOL fully on campus and online. The UMBC TESOL program is managed internally by the university’s Department of Education and Division of Professional Studies and taught by internationally recognized UMBC faculty with extensive experience in English language teaching at all levels from the United States and abroad.
