We have an immediate opportunity for students looking to get more involved around campus. BWTech is sponsoring a Cybertini event/talk next Tuesday and they are looking for two (2) students that could help with registration. Students could then attend the event for free.

It is a Cybertini, and there is a speaker, William Evanina, Director of Counterintelligence for the National Counterintelligence Security Center, and head of counterintelligence for the US. It would be great for any students to come. Members can use the code: bwtech2020Friends on eventbrite.

The students would check people in at the desk, hand out name tags and sign new people in. Once that happens, they will be able to attend the event for free. A great opportunity for any student interested in cyber-intelligence or regional affairs.

We plan to collaborate with other clubs and disciplines, host several workshops and provide more resources for students looking to create businesses. Most importantly, we want to create an environment for entrepreneurs to meet like-minded, ambitious students around campus.

For this expansion, we will be adding two positions, Lead PR and Lead Researcher to the UMBC Entrepreneurs Executive Board. Members should be willing to accommodate at least one hour each week in the Spring 2020 semester for executive board meetings. Members can expect to receive free custom merchandise throughout the semester and gain valuable experience in a high-growth startup/organization environment, and of course, add to your resume.

We regret to inform you that Entrepreneur's Day, Wednesday, December 4th has been canceled. Changes in UMBC Finance Board policy has made it more difficult to host events, however we hope to hold more events in Spring 2020.

We thank everybody who attended previous large events and Friday meetings.

PitchDay is TODAY, Monday November 18th, in Sherman 151 from 7-9pm. Members can share ideas for products or services, get feedback and recruit other members in an informal Pitch event. There will also be games, food and prizes. 

This is a great opportunity for student entrepreneurs with businesses or ideas for businesses to find cofounders on campus, and meet other like minded students.

IDEA Competition is TODAY, 11/14/2019 in the Library Gallery from 7-9pm. Be sure to come and support fellow entrepreneurs highlighting their big innovative idea. Audience members help make the decision for who wins the cash prize of $750! We have members apart of UMBC Entrepreneurs competing so come see their innovative ideas in action.

PitchDay is MONDAY, November 18th, 2019 in Sherman 151 from 7-9pm. This is an informal event where students can come to share their big idea, get feedback and criticism and recruit new members. No experience is required, only an idea is necessary. Food and snacks will be provided. PRIZES will also be given in a Pitch-styled game.

Idea Competition is coming up! Submit an idea for Idea Competition by TOMORROW, Thursday October 10th, 2019 for a chance to compete and win up to $750. You can find relevant submission links on the Alex Brown Center for Entrepreneurship website.

A product or established business is not necessary. Members are encouraged to apply regardless of experience.

We also encourage members to attend our weekly open coworking space this Friday, October 11th, 2019 in ITE 237. This is a great opportunity to ask questions, receive insightful feedback or work together on great ideas.

Entrepreneurs Student Org. Executive Board

A couple of important announcements regarding the Entrepreneurs Student Org. for October:

DevSpace (formerly called IdeaLab) is a startup space dedicated to collaboration, product design and more to help student entrepreneurs enhance ideas. A relaxed environment where entrepreneurs can come to work and get feedback, resources and more every Friday in ITE 237 from 12:00 - 1:00pm. 

This is a recurring space dedicated for you in ITE 237, and we encourage entrepreneurs to come prepared with questions or ideas.

Alex Brown Center for Entrepreneurship holds workshops for students throughout the semester. We encourage students to attend these workshops, as many times they provide supplementary material we discuss in the Org.

Until further notice, Monday meetings have been suspended. UMBC has enforced a policy where meetings cannot be held for Orgs without rooms and spaces booked in advance. Unfortunately, confirming a room has become a burden and we have not yet received confirmation for Monday meetings.

As a result, lectures provided on Mondays will be summarized and sent as handouts instead. General concepts and questions will also be followed up on the following Friday. We will be updating the Fall 2019 schedule to illustrate these changes.

The IDEA Competition deadline is soon approaching on October 10th, 2019. Please attend DevSpace meeting held on October 4th, 2019 to best prepare for a submission and chance to win money for your startup.
