Course: Social and Economic Context of Aging (AGNG 600)Instructor: Dr. Laura Allen

Description: This course presents an overview of the many changes at all levels, from the individual to societal, driven by the aging of the population in the United States. An interdisciplinary synthesis is the basis for understanding normal human aging in a cultural and community context and examining the harmful effects of stereotypes and ageism.
Course: Policy Foundations of Aging Services (AGNG 604)

Description: This course covers two main tracks.
- Analyzing the theoretical foundations of public policy, including problem identification, policy development, and strategic planning for successful implementation.
- Emphasizing current policy issues impacting older adults and service-providing organizations.
Course: Implementation of Innovations in Dementia Care Services (AGNG 622)

Description: This course expands on learners' knowledge of Alzheimer's and dementia, and focuses on existing innovative solutions, encouraging analysis, and the teaching of methods for similar solutions in learners' organizations. It covers a broad range of products and services, the development of an implementation plan, and an understanding of the tools needed to support dementia care and those living with dementia.
Course: Strategy, Marketing, and Service Delivery (AGNG 624)

Description: This course examines the role of strategy in successful organizations. Insights into how to identify/develop an organization's strategy and to understand its implications for execution and marketing are explored. The need for in-depth analysis of broad environmental forces and the anticipation of future developments are stressed. It considers how government, technology, and other environmental factors can impact organizational performance, and how leaders can strengthen their organization's abilities to deal with such factors.
Course: Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Design I (AGNG 638)

Description: This is the first of two courses covering Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Design. Entrepreneurship I has a primary emphasis on the business or 'for-profit' components of the endeavor and includes consideration of both Innovation as well as Design. Entrepreneurship II focuses on Entrepreneurial efforts and approaches within an existing organization (with an emphasis on nonprofit organizations) - including organizational leadership and governance.
Course: Correlation and Review - Capstone (AGNG 662)

Description: This course serves as the capstone of the curriculum. The intent is for students to bear an interdisciplinary approach using the knowledge, skills, and abilities they have learned in the fields of aging, management, and policy.
Course: Independent Study (AGNG 699)

Description: This is a course in independent reading for M.A. students, and is supervised by a staff member. The purpose is to allow students to study a topic of interest that is not available from the existing course offerings. Credit is variable, reflecting the varied scope of student projects.

Summer Graduate Courses at Erickson School
Eight-week graduate course options for graduate students
Greetings all!
March 1, 2024 marks the opening of registration for Summer 2024 classes. The Erickson School of Aging Studies has three, eight-week courses scheduled to take place this summer. Classes begin on May 28th and conclude on July 19th, 2024.
The course offerings are as follows:
AGNG 600: Social & Economic Context of Aging
AGNG 625: Research & Evaluation
AGNG 699: Independent Studies (Instructor Approval required).
Please see the attached flyer and be sure to ask ESAS Graduate Program Director, Dr. Ferguson, any questions about how these class may help move you along on your continued graduate journey. The deadline to register for summer classes is four days after the start of summer classes (May 31,2024).
