Thanks so much to everyone who came out to the 10th Annual Wine Tasting and Silent Auction hosted by our Chapter of Young Alumni. By attending the event, you helped us raise nearly $5,000 for student scholarships. In fact, since 2009, together we’ve raised almost $30,000 to support UMBC students.

We’re also grateful to our generous sponsors, whose contributions came in at nearly $7,500 this year. Without their support, this event would not be possible.

Thanks to your generosity, our student callers raised nearly $60,000 for UMBC this year!

UMBC students called, and generosity answered.

The UMBC Phonathon program began its third year of calling on Sept 15, 2013.

By June 30 2014 (the end of UMBC’s fiscal year), Phonathon callers secured 1,076 gifts for a total of nearly $60,000.

Logan Wern, UMBC’s Phonathon Coordinator, is excited about the impact the gifts will have on the campus. “I’m very grateful for our generous alumni and parents and our hardworking student callers,” said Wern.

It’s true that success is measured in numbers, and giving is up since students began making calls in 2011. However, relationships built by UMBC’s Phonathon are just as important.

“What I love most about being a student caller is the connections I build with alumni and parents. I love sharing exciting news about UMBC, and getting the alumni excited about their alma mater,” says student supervisor Irum Zar ’16. “Giving back to a place that gave you so many opportunities is very important to me, and I love being able to share that passion with other callers as a supervisor.”

A sincere thanks to our generous alumni and parents. We appreciate your support and commitment to UMBC. Because of you, UMBC continues to grow more and more innovative by the year. Thank you!

As the first day of summer approaches, we’d like to look back and congratulate the class of 2014 for completing their undergraduate years at UMBC. This class created memories, opportunities, and relationships that are unlike any others, and were able to take part in many events while completing their degrees here. Thanks to the investment of donors like you, our grads are holding their heads high as they look to a future full of bigger and better things.

While it may not be immediately recognizable, your donations, no matter how big or small, all contribute to the livelihood and well-being of our campus, our faculty, and our students. We are grateful for every gift and show of support that you are able to offer.

It’s Valentine’s Day, and love is in the air! For all of us here at UMBC, it’s a great day to tell you, our donors, how much we appreciate you and all that you do for UMBC.

When you give to the University, you make it possible for our students to get the highest quality education. You ensure that our faculty and staff have the resources to do amazing things. You invest in a place that strives for greatness. And though that investment means more to us than words can convey, we still want to say thank you. The students are also going to present their project in Next Century’s offices and will get an experience of actual office/industry setting.”

“Through his work as a student caller with UMBC’s Phonathon, Jordan, class of 2014, has done exceptional work on behalf of UMBC and the Meyerhoff program. He has had hundreds of conversations with alumni and parents, helping to secure many gifts for the  LaMont Toliver Alumni Memorial Scholarship. This fall, Jordan himself made a contribution to the LaMont Toliver Alumni Memorial Scholarship. I was really impressed by his leadership as a student and donor. UMBC’s students often give back of their time and talent, but it’s more rare for students to part with their hard-earned paychecks. Jordan’s commitment to helping future generations of UMBC students excel was a really moving act that leaves a lasting legacy in Mr. Toliver’s name.”
