USM Regents Student Excellence Scholarships Application portal open Jan. 16 to Feb. 9

The University System of Maryland Board of Regents and the University System of Maryland Student Council are introducing the Board of Regents Student Excellence Scholarships to recognize exceptionally talented students who are making contributions in various aspects of student life. Each awardee will receive a commemorative stole and a $2,000 scholarship to commemorate their outstanding achievements.

Scholarships will be granted to up to two undergraduate students (one first-year or sophomore and one junior or senior) and up to one graduate student from among the diverse USM student community exhibiting achievements in the following categories: (1) Leadership and Advocacy; (2) Outreach and Engagement; (3) Innovation and Creativity; and (4) Academics, Scholarship, and Research.

Students are responsible for self-nomination, and the deadline to submit an application is February 9. More information on criteria and the selection process is available here.

At Dinner with Friends, you'll share stories, learn about each other's experiences, and discuss how we can move forward together on a topic of your choice (see below). Students, faculty, staff, and alumni who participate in Dinners with Friends report that they have wonderful experiences.

Join a facilitated small-group conversation about one of the following discussion topics (you choose):

A snow day!! Yahooo! Perfect opportunity to check your closets to see if you have any extra winter wear to donate. We have a whole lot of new students coming in, many from warmer climates, and we know our current stock will go very quickly. 

Please consider bringing in any winter wear you have to The Essential Space in RAC 235. Our hours are M-W and Friday 11am to 4pm. We are of course closed today, but plan to reopen tomorrow! 



THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO DONATED WINTER CLOTHES & INITIATED DRIVES LAST SEMESTER! The Wisdom Institute, Shriver Center, and Catonsville Senior Center - so many UMBC community members received all the warmth they needed when it got very cold in the past few weeks, because of the drives you organized and hats you knitted/crocheted!
