Join our 5-week Dialogue program to learn new skills!
InterACT is a 5-week dialogue program for UMBC students. This is a cohort experience designed to help students develop the skills to engage in difficult dialogue across differences. Students will meet in small groups and with peer facilitators for a short, weekly session to learn foundational dialogues skills, and to practice empathetic and generous listening, cross-cultural storytelling, and critical self reflection.

Welcome Retrievers! We are looking forward to connecting with you. Read on to learn about three ways you can get involved with the Center for Democracy and Civic Life this fall.
First: Click the attachment below, or view our myUMBC calendar here, for a list of upcoming Center for Democracy and Civic Life events and opportunities. Opportunities over the course of the next month include our Welcome Week Open House on September 1, the inaugural meeting of our new First Connect program on September 12 (for students in their first semester of college), and the Dinner with Friends conversation program on September 23.
Second: Many Center for Democracy and Civic Life programs create opportunities for UMBC community members to have meaningful conversations with each other about topics that are important to them. What would you like to talk about this year? Your thoughts on topics or issues you'd like to discuss at these events will inform our planning. Please enter your thoughts here by September 8, 2023.
Third: Looking to make an impact in your community, but don't know where to start? - Southwest Emergency Services is located within walking distance of campus at 1201 Maple Ave and is open every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9am to 12pm.
