What are Writing Accountability Group, or WAGs at UMBC?

What: Writing Accountability Groups (WAGs) are voluntary and facilitated by fellow UMBC graduate students.

Who: WAGs are composed of a group of graduate students (usually 4–8 participants per group) interested in developing writing habits and accountability.

Why: Develop habits of writing every day for a short, manageable period of time by setting goals and being accountable to WAG peers.

When: WAG groups meet once a week for 60–90 minutes for 10–12 weeks. The group finds a weekly time mutually convenient to all group members.

Where: The group decides on a mutually convenient location to meet, whether in person or online via WebEx or another videoconferencing platform.

myUMBC Service Disruption Monday, Feb 16

We sincerely apologize for the service issues many of you experienced in myUMBC this morning starting around 7:30 AM.

We made infrastructure improvements over the weekend that performed well during testing. However, when Monday morning's full user load hit the system, errors began occurring that prevented content from loading properly.

We understand how disruptive this was, especially at the start of your week when many of you rely on myUMBC for essential activities. Our team responded quickly to restore full service.

We're taking steps to strengthen our testing procedures to better simulate peak usage conditions and prevent similar issues in the future.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

2/12/2025 Update

Hello Everyone!

For starters, thank you so much for your understanding during our Free Farmers Market today. For those who are unaware, unfortunately we had to cancel due to our distributors being in an accident; we hope and pray for a speedy recovery, and that everything is ok.

A few updates that I was talking about while at the Farmers Market:

1: I ordered extra food for our Maryland Food Bank delivery next week Wednesday the 18th (roughly 2.6k pounds). This is our main contribution to the food at our pantry in the commons, not our Free Farmers Market (a couple of questions arose about it today). In addition, next week Tuesday the 17th, there will be double limits with whatever we have in stock in preparation to restock Wednesday morning.

2: Free Farmers Market on the 19th will be at the Center for Wellbeing. For those who are unaware, it is the location in the picture seen below

3: When you visit our pantry, make sure to check out our whiteboard! They will have more general/future updates about our pantry and is updated weekly.

Again, thank you all so much for your consideration and understanding. If you have any questions, please feel free to email us at anytime.

Hello everyone! We have an update about our Free Farmer's Market.

Due to the large influx of attendees to our Free Farmers Market. Starting from 2/12, we will be using a ticket system for the Farmers Market!

There will be a designated person around the waiting area with a roll of tickets in hand. Once you walk into the apartment community center (or wherever we may be), please walk towards them, retrieve your ticket, and wait patiently in the area until we start the service.

We will be calling everyone via the last 2 digits of your ticket number!

For example, if the first ticket starts with 73401, we'll call numbers from 73401 - 73415.
