ICPSR Short Workshops
Statistical and Quantitative Methods for Data Analysis
Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR) Summer Program short workshops feature instruction in a specific statistical technique or research method over the period of a week or two. They offer short workshops in a range of topics, including machine learning, mixed methods, causal inference, quantitative methods to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion, and more.
For online short workshops, you can participate synchronously via Zoom or watch lecture recordings asynchronously at your convenience. ICPSR also offers several in-person short workshops for those topics that rely on in-person learning and collaboration. In ICPSR short workshops, you’ll have direct access to exceptional faculty, as well as extended access to lecture recordings and workshop materials until December 31, 2023.
UMBC is a member of ICPSR so anyone affiliated with UMBC attend at the member price.

Our program will recognize GSA award recipients as well as other members of our graduate community and the GSA Senate. The Graduate Student Association has established numerous awards to recognize members of the UMBC community who have distinguished themselves. All graduate programs, faculty, staff, and students are invited to attend!
We hope you will join us as we celebrate the wonderful members of our graduate community! We look forward to celebrating another successful year with all of our graduate programs!

*We are only accepting Self-Applicants; no nominating others.
Such senators would have the following general responsibilities as they represent either their college or the general (cultural/non-academic) interests of all graduate students at UMBC:
Section 4.2: Duties
• Senators must represent the concerns and opinions of their constituency, AND;
• Senators must report on the proceedings of Senate Meetings to their constituency, AND;
• Senators must attend all Senate Meetings, or send an alternate, in accordance with the Annual Points of Policy, AND;
• Senators must review the agenda for the Senate Meeting and all other relevant documents prior to the Senate Meeting.
• Senators must host at least three (3) Town Hall meetings per Academic Year.
• Senators must join and remain active on at least one university committee.
• Senators must report back the affiliated university committee meeting updates.
Senators who fulfill these responsibilities will be eligible to receive a stipend of $500 per semester.

This is a reminder the Graduate Experience and Achievements Committee (GEARS) is hosting their flagship evet tomorrow, April 19th from 11-2PM.
The competition supports the students capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate toa nonspecific audience, 3MT celebrates the exciting research conducted by Ph.D. students. Developed by the University of Queensland, the exercise cultivates students' academic, presentation, and research communication skills.
