It is time for Spring 2023's Meet and Confer. What does this mean? It is the time of the semester when GAAC meets with the Graduate School Deans to convey your GA employment-related concerns. Through the M&C policy, the Graduate Assistant Advisory Committee (GAAC) strives to productively work and coordinate with administrators to continue a good work environment and bring about positive changes for graduate assistants.

Calling all Earth Scientists!

UMBC's annual Earth Day Symposium is coming up on April 21st! This all-day event will feature invited talks centered around this year's theme of Synergy in Science. There is also a panel for anyone interested in working in industry, academia, and government, tabling during Earth hour that will show off our earth scientist working across campus, and a poster session open to both graduate and undergraduate researchers! The top 3 posters this year will be recognized with awards and prizes!

There will be 2 mandatory one-to-one sessions with Scott Morgan on 15th March 2023 and 12th April 2023.

GEARS, UMBC ’s Graduate Experience, Achievements, and Research Symposium invites graduate students to participate in some fun and exciting events this semester!

During Ideathon new or existing problems can be better tackled by using their new idea. Participants will present their ideas to the jury and fellow graduate students in UMBC. 

This event will highlight your creative skills and the uniqueness of your idea, which can be social, environmental, IT technology, medical field related, etc. These ideas can be real or hypothetical. You create a three-minute presentation showcasing your idea and how unique it is. All the participants are eligible for UMBC prizes.

PowerPoint Roulette is a fun event that tests your ability to think on-the-spot and speak publicly! During this competition, you will present a PowerPoint on a random topic you are not prepared for, with slides you have never seen.
