Greetings and welcome to UMBC! This evening program is for new graduate students who are not able to attend the program on August 15. All new graduate students are strongly encouraged to attend one of the New Graduate Student Orientation sessions on either Monday, August 15 or Wednesday, August 24. The Wednesday, August 24 program is an evening program that has been planned to accommodate new graduate students who are working or have other obligations during the day which would prevent attendance at the day program on Monday, August 15. Please be sure the register for either the Monday, August 15 program (http://my.umbc.edu/groups/promise/events/7120) or the Wednesday, August 24 program.
The Wednesday program includes agenda items such as "10 Habits of Highly Effective Graduate Students" and academic resources. The Wednesday, August 24 program includes a reception with representatives from campus organizations who will be available to answer questions about financial aid, living on or around campus, parking, and other essential topics.
The Graduate School's orientation program accompanies the orientations within the departments. Please plan to attend both the New Graduate Student Orientation that are sponsored by the Graduate School, *and* your respective departmental programs. They are compliments, one cannot be substituted for the other.
If you are not able to attend the day program for the Graduate School's New Graduate Student Orientation http://my.umbc.edu/groups/promise/events/7120, please register for the "EVENING" program described here. You can register by logging into the MyUMBC website in the top right corner, using your umbc user ID. Please click the "I can attend" button that shows up underneath this message after you log in.
We look forward to welcoming you to graduate school! We are here to help you with your transition and we will work with you as you pursue your graduate degree.
