Graduate students are needed to work as New Student Orientation Advisors during Winter 2012 with the Office for Academic and Pre-Professional Advising (OAPA). Advisors will be compensated $100.00 per session for up to 4 sessions. For an application and additional information regarding the position, please visit the OAPA website at www.umbc.edu/advising

NEW ADVISOR TRAINING SESSION: Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, 9AM - 5PM
(This session is mandatory for all selected advisors.)
UMBC's official winter session begins on January 3, and ends on January 25.
If you are already have an assistantship and if you are on UMBC's payroll as a 10 hour/week or 20 hour/week TA, RA, or GA, you may need to have a "REQUEST FOR GA OVERAGE" http://www.umbc.edu/gradschool/docs/grad_assist/Request_for_GA_Overage.docx in addition to the required documents requested by OAPA.
Students who are participating in the PROF-it (Professors-in-Training) program are strongly encouraged to consider this position for professional development.
Many graduate students over the years have taken advantage of this opportunity to gain experience with advising and mentoring, while earning a little bit of extra money. Spaces fill up quickly, so please do not wait until the Dec. 7 deadline if you are interested.
