Dr. Bhatt was awarded a College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Research Fellowship for Fall 2019 to work on her new research project "From H-4 ‘Dreamers’ to DACA: South Asian Migration in an Era of Restriction."
Her project sheds light on an understudied segment: South Asians who migrate as children and young adults. Her study will be among the first to highlight the representations and experiences of young South Asian immigrants and considers the important role they play in family decision-making about migration and settlement, as well as their relative lack of agency in the actual process or outcome of migration.
