Per The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) they have announced that they will defer the requirements for the employers to review the Form I-9 with new employees. This will allow for complete remote processing of the I-9.
Employers must now inspect section 2 of the form I-9 via video conference, fax, or email. Once these forms have been reviewed a copy must be received within three business days. The UMBC payroll team is developing a “DocuSign Remote Work I-9 Form”. This form will be used during the remote work period. Once the form has completed a link with additional instructions will be sent via the MyUmbc Payroll Prepare/HR work group.
Payroll 20 is due tomorrow. Please do not hold your new hire packets (or any changes) while we get the Docusign Remote I-9 form in production this week. Please do not use the prior Docusign I-9 form for Remote I-9s and do not attach copies of documents to the prior Docusign I-9 forms.
