The Inclusion Imperative’s Diversity Teaching Network is pleased to co-sponsor the
second annual Hill-Robinson McNair Lecture.
The lecture will take place on September 17, 2020, from 5:00pm-6:30pm (streamed).

Jasmine Lee, Director of Inclusive Excellence & Initiatives for Identity, Inclusion and Belonging in the UMBC Division of Student Affairs, is the featured speaker.

Dr. Lee will speak on “Counterstories Found at the Intersection of Being Black, First Generation, Low-Income College Students Attending PWIs (Primarily White Institutions).”

The annual Hill-Robinson McNair Lecture is presented by the UMBC McNair Scholars Program in honor of Cynthia M. Hill, former UMBC Associate Provost and founding Director of the McNair Scholars Program, and Thomas Robinson, Assistant Professor of Africana Studies and McNair Research Methods faculty for more than 28 years. Dr. Lee, an alumna of Eastern Michigan University, is a proud McNair Scholar.

Through the Inclusion Imperative Program, partners UMBC, Bowie State University, Coppin State University, and Howard University are cultivating a regional network of scholars who are committed to diversity and inclusion in the humanities. Over five years, the Inclusion Imperative’s Diversity Teaching Network in the Humanities will expand conversations on diversity in the curriculum, help advance community-engaged and other socially aware humanities pedagogies, and create a supportive environment for faculty.
