The Petrovich lecture series is sponsored by the Interdisciplinary Studies department at UMBC. This annual lecture features prominent individuals from the Baltimore-Washington metropolitan area; representing fields including social sciences, medicine, and the humanities. The Petrovich lectures demonstrate the need for addressing complex issues by drawing upon a range of disciplinary perspectives. Gary LaFree is professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice and Director of the Naional Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) at the University of Maryland.
