INDS is
proud to host this year's Association for Interdisciplinary Studies (AIS) international conference
here on the UMBC campus. The conference theme is "Beyond
talking heads: applied and experiential
learning through an interdisciplinary lens." Plan to learn more about
interdisciplinary approaches to project-based learning! It will be held
Thursday, October 19 through Saturday, October 21.
There are many ways you could get involved!
There are many ways you could get involved!
- You could register as a student for $50. This conference
registration includes all
conference materials, attendance to all sessions, banquet dinner off-campus
featuring UMBC President Freeman Hrabowski on Thursday evening,
breakfast and lunch on Friday and Saturday, and the after-party party on
Saturday evening. Your registration fee also includes one-year membership into
AIS where you will stay abreast of all news and research from the
association. This does not include a volunteer shirt, and does not require any hours to volunteer. You would be welcome to volunteer and earn service points.
-
You could receive the La Noue Scholarship to attend the conference for
free! Reply to this email (csauter@umbc.edu) with a 50-word essay on why
attendance at this conference would be advantageous to you and your
degree plan. You would be treated as a registered participant of the
conference with all perks listed above. Deadline to apply is Thursday,
October 5.
- You could fill volunteer roles Wednesday (pre-conference organizing), Thursday, Friday and/or Saturday and earn service points to INDS.
You could also attend any session at the conference. This does not
include the dinner with Freeman but does include the after-party on
Saturday evening. You would also receive a volunteer shirt. Please
complete the form by Friday, October 6.
Please
let us know if you have any questions about time commitments or level
of involvement. We want to be sensitive to your multiple
responsibilities, but we hope that you see this as a great opportunity
to engage in the interdisciplinary community.
Complete our online form by Friday October 6 to volunteer!
Share with any friends who aren't in INDS if they would like to earn a
shirt and be involved in this huge campus event. We will be in touch the
week of October 9 with your assigned times and duties.
