We have been notified by the State Department of Budget and Management’s Employee Benefits Division of several key updates applicable to employees who have benefits through the State of Maryland. This update does not affect graduate assistants.
The 2018 updates include changes to effective dates of coverage; 1095-C tax statement information; SPS workday updates; and premium holidays (outlined below). Details about each of these changes are posted in the myUMBC Human Resources group.
Additional Premium Holidays for 2018
The State of Maryland announced yesterday that Governor Larry Hogan has approved two health premium holidays for the month of March for active and contractual employees enrolled in health coverage. Due to the approved additional premium holidays, there will be no deductions for medical, prescription or dental on March 9, 2018 or March 23, 2018 university pay check dates.
Please note: As part of our regularly scheduled semi-annual premium holidays for employees who have deductions, there will be no deductions for medical, prescription, dental, FSAs, and life insurance on April 6, 2018 or October 5, 2018.
