Yesterday a mechanical fitting on our High Temperature Hot Water system at the Central Plant failed. This failure resulted in the need to turn off the system, as well as the Chillers producing chilled water.
The impact of this failure is the inability to heat campus buildings that rely on this system for generating heat. All buildings within Hilltop Circle are affected by this outage, including Erickson Hall. All other Residential Life buildings and apartments, as well as True Grits, will have heat and will be operating normally.
Facilities Management has been making repairs and coordinating with contractors to restore the hot water system. Building temperatures are anticipated to be in the low-to-mid 60s this morning and will begin rising by early afternoon.
Thank you for your patience as we work quickly to remedy the situation. An update on the status will be sent this afternoon.
