It is with sadness that the Computer Science and Electrical Engineering Department shares the news of the passing of emeritus faculty member Dr. Arthur Brooke Stephens on Sunday, November 4, 2018.

Throughout his career with UMBC Dr. Stephens focused his research on numerical analysis, combinatorics, resource allocation, and optimization. He began his career at UMBC in 1983 as a faculty member in the Mathematics and Statistics Department. Dr. Stephens was one of the founding faculty members of the Computer Science department and served as Associate Dean for many years. He was influential in sharing institutional knowledge with colleagues prior to his retirement on December 31, 2011.

Arrangements were made to donate his body to medical science. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 1 - 3 p.m. Details are below:
