Following emergency orders by Governor Hogan to limit the spread of COVID-19, UMBC will be closed on Friday, March 13. Essential employees should check with their supervisors to learn whether they need to report to campus. Employees who need access to offices can call campus police at 410-455-5555. This also applies to UMBC staff at the Universities at Shady Grove.
Residential students will continue leaving campus as scheduled. There are no classes through March 20 in observance of spring break. Faculty are preparing to teach online beginning March 23. We expect additional guidance from the University System of Maryland tomorrow and will keep the UMBC community informed.
UMBC is already scheduled to be closed for faculty and staff Monday, March 16 through Wednesday, March 18 for spring break. More information on next week’s schedule will be provided by email and at covid19.umbc.edu.
We appreciate your patience during this rapidly changing situation.
