Student Services and Support
- The Career Center is offering a Keys to Success: The Job Search Strategies webinar on Friday, May 8 at noon.
- Retriever Essentials’ annual survey on food/housing insecurity among the UMBC community is currently available.
- International Education Services staff are providing a virtual Town Hall this Friday, May 8, at 4 p.m. EST for current international students. Join IES for an opportunity to connect with staff, ask questions, and engage in discussion.
Academic Continuity
- The second Research Town Hall is this Friday, May 8 at 9 a.m. Attendees are requested to register and submit questions in advance. The event will include presentations on research re-launch planning and COVID-19-related funding opportunities.
- The Academic Success Center has created an Online Learning Resources page for access to a variety of new resources including: How to Ask for Help during Online Learning and Tips for Academic Success during COVID-19.
- The deadline to return rented course materials to the bookstore is Friday, July 10th. We are working with partners to ensure that students will not have to drive to campus or pay for shipping to return their rental books. More information is available on the Bookstore’s website.
Business Continuity and Staff Support
- We look forward to collaborating with our campus partners to welcome our new students, please review our updates. To ensure the continued health and safety of our new students, this year, we will host our mandatory first-year and transfer student orientation programs in a virtual format.
- We are pleased to provide you with the process for application for benefits provided under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA). To learn more about this process and FFCRA eligibility, please visit the FFCRA FAQs. Additional FAQs and guidance for the Graduate Assistant process will be posted soon.
- UMBC’s EAP Program is hosting a webinar: How Emotions Impact Eating During a Crisis. You can view the full webinar series in the myUMBC training group.
- Human Resources is hosting two virtual training programs: Engaging Remote Employees: Supervisor Strategies for Success on 5/12, and Working While Remote: Strategies for Balance & Success on 5/19. Register for these and other training opportunities on myUMBC Training Group.

- Please note that during the student move-out process, other campus buildings will remain closed and students will be unable to access labs or other spaces.
