On March 30, 2020 Sedrick Smith of LLC Cohort 18 successfully defended his dissertation and earned the title of Doctor of Philosophy.

His defense went very smoothly, despite its being the first virtual defense for the LLC Program. He was gratified by the large remote audience, which included his children, who under other circumstances would have been at school.   

He gave an excellent presentation of his dissertation research, "Depictions versus Reality: Countering the television mediated narratives of Black teachers in Baltimore."
