    <Title>BioEngineering Summer opportunity</Title>

          <div class="html-content"><strong>Fully funded BioEngineering Summer opportunity for grad students in the rainforests of Borneo and Singapore! Applications due March 1.</strong><div><strong><br></strong></div><div><p>IRES PROGRAM ON AUTONOMY IN NATURAL ENVIRONMENTS (for graduate students): Participants will study autonomous mobility in complex natural environments based on flying and gliding rainforest animals with the help of an interdisciplinary mentor network located in Korea, Singapore, and Brunei. Students will get an opportunity throughout the program to participate in professional development opportunities for IRES scholars and their mentors, led by the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE). The 13-week summer program will start with an orientation week at the Virginia Tech campus followed by a modular sequence of setup with an engineering mentor at either KAIST or the National University of Singapore (NUS), a biology immersion in Borneo at the University of Brunei (UBD), and finally a data analysis/engineering integration module at KAIST. <strong><em><u>The program will cover all cost and pay a $5000 fellowship to each participant.  </u></em></strong>Participants must be US-citizens/Greencard holders and graduate students.           <div class="html-content"><p><span>UT Southwestern is launching a new postdoctoral fellows program called the <strong>PROVIDES</strong> Program.  PROVIDES stands for Provost’s Initiative for Diverse Emerging Scholars.</span></p><p><span> </span></p><p><span>The <strong>PROVIDES</strong> program is focused on increasing the diversity of the postdoctoral community at UT Southwestern and, importantly, supporting the successful transition of these postdoctoral fellows into independent faculty positions.  We are seeking qualified early-career scientists who have recently earned their PhD degree or who will earn their PhD degree prior to the start of the PROVIDES program with the goal of pursuing research and training that will lead to the successful pursuit of a tenure-track faculty position.           <p>Beloit College seeks an excellent teacher and productive researcher to fill a <strong>tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor</strong> beginning with the 2020-21 academic year. The successful applicant will hold a Ph.D. in <strong>organismal, population, or ecosystem biology </strong>with a focus on <strong>quantitatively-oriented analyses</strong>. Possible fields of emphasis include, but are not limited to, epidemiology, ecology, conservation and restoration biology, aquatic biology, invertebrate ecology, entomology, and animal behavior. We welcome applications from candidates with laboratory, field, computational, classroom, and/or community-based research interests.</p>
          <p>The successful candidate will t<strong>each introductory biology, experimental design and applied biological statistics, intermediate and/or advanced courses in the area of expertise, and/or interdisciplinary courses</strong>. The successful candidate will also develop a research program that engages undergraduates, contribute to all-college programs such as first- and second-year seminars, interdisciplinary studies, and international education, and serve in leadership roles in campus governance. <strong>We especially seek candidates who have demonstrated success in working with ethnically, culturally, and/or socio-economically diverse populations of students. This position is an excellent opportunity to teach in a department that is nationally-known for innovative pedagogy.</strong></p>

    <p>The Department of Biology at Providence College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning fall 2020 to support a recently developed Environmental Biology Major. We seek outstanding candidates who hold a Ph.D. (post-doctoral experience preferred) in Environmental Science or a closely related discipline, such as Biology, Ecology, Marine Science, Conservation Biology and Geoscience.</p>
    <p>Successful candidates are expected to develop and maintain an active, highly visible, extramurally funded research program with outstanding scholarship and to demonstrate excellence in teaching and mentoring of undergraduate students. We are open to considering candidates in any area of relevant expertise in the environment and who may foster collaborations among the diverse faculty at Providence College. Examples of areas of interest: community response to climate change; conservation; surface and ground water hydrology; effects of contaminants, such as marine and coastal plastics; biological sequestration of carbon; and organismal responses to ocean warming and acidification.</p>

    <div>This activity is open to any full-time UMBC employee who is working on a thesis or dissertation, at any university, e.g., UMBC employees who are in the doctoral program at Frostburg University. This activity is also open to UMBC graduate students who are full-time employees, career professional, or non-traditional returning students. All graduate students can apply.</div>
