For those of you who missed us at Involvement Fest, Meditation at UMBC invites you to join us for meditation on Thursdays from 1pm - 2pm in Commons room 327, and Fridays from 12pm - 1pm in UC room 115!
Update: We now have meditation from 1pm-2pm in commons 327 on Tuesdays!
We meditate to become more mindful in our daily lives. Whether you're a student with a heavy course load who would like to find some peace of mind or a faculty member who seeks solitude outside of your work hours, Meditation at UMBC welcomes everyone. While our practice is considered a spiritual pursuit, we are not a religious organization. Our members and officers represent a variety of backgrounds, and we hope to provide time and support for those who seek to practice meditation.
Why meditate? Meditation helps us...
· Deal with anxiety · Improve concentration · Reflect on our relationships · Attain inner peace · Better our physical health · Better our mental health
|
· Relieve stress · Gain direction and understanding in life · Be more mindful · Improve memory
|
*It is important to note that these benefits come with regular practice. At the very least, once a week over the course of many months, will bring about some of these positive effects in your life. With daily practice, you will see most of the above benefits become your reality.*
Why meditate in a group?
Group meditation helps us maintain regular practice. Knowing that there's someone there to meditate with you at a set time will assist in your commitment to meditation.
Please contact lambert7@umbc.edu if you have any questions regarding our group.
I wish you all peace and tranquility throughout the semester!
Alyssa Lambert
President of Meditation at UMBC
