Scholars may have the option to
participate in a study abroad program for one semester and utilize their
scholarship for credit-worthy courses earned abroad. Any additional
semesters abroad require special review. Prior approval is required from
both the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships and the Study
Abroad Office.
In order to utilize your financial aid and/or merit scholarship awards, all UMBC students receiving any source of aid are required to meet with their Assigned Financial Aid Counselor at least 60 days prior to departure. Failure to do so may result in the loss or a hold on your account.
For approval, scholars must first meet with a representative from the UMBC Study Abroad Office.
Once you have fulfilled the requirements at the Study Abroad Office, you will need to schedule an appointment with your Assigned Financial Aid counselor to complete the following:
1) Signed Statement of Understanding (attached)
2) Study Abroad Budget Form (completed at the Study Abroad Office)
3) Acceptance Letter from the Program
4) Meyerhoff Study Abroad Request Form (Meyerhoff Scholars Only)
