Hi Scholars,
A big thank you to all who came out to the Merit Scholarship Recipient Meet & Greet on Tuesday, August 28! We had a great turnout and we can't wait to see you all again.
If you weren't able to make it, no worries! We discussed the following:
- Critical Dates/Deadline Reminders:
- Attached you will find a flyer listing out important deadlines related to maintaining your scholarship. Remember that you must submit a Scholarship Withdrawal Request form before you drop a course and are below 12 credits. The form can be found on our website.
- Scholars are required to maintain a 3.25 cumulative GPA and take at least 12 credits to meet the requirements of their scholarship. Please review your scholarship agreement if you have any questions.
- We will be hosting Monthly Scholarship meetings! Dates can be found in the attachment below. Come get to know our team and learn all about UMBC resources. [There may be giveaways for attendance :)]
- Communicating with the Scholarships Team:
- Our primary method of communicating with students is through their UMBC email and postal mail.
- You will also receive updates from us through the UMBC Merit Scholars myUMBC group and through social media. We recently launched our social media accounts! Follow us on Facebook and Instagram: @UMBCScholarships and Twitter: @UMBCScholarship
- We will be hosting Walk-In Hours on Wednesdays during free hour (12pm-1pm).
- Scholar Spotlight:
- We will start featuring our students on our social media channels and website (COMING VERY SOON!). Share how your merit scholarship has impacted your academic career, gain
exposure to additional private scholarship donors, prospective
employers, boost your resume, and show future Retrievers what UMBC is
all about! Apply to be a featured scholar here: http://bit.ly/scholarspotlight
- Scholarship Ambassadors:
- Scholarship Ambassadors assist UMBC’s Merit Scholarship Unit in recruiting new scholarship students and growing the scholarship community among current students. Apply here: https://goo.gl/forms/MCTstq0Yqyh2NnmI2
We wish you all an amazing semester and a safe Labor Day weekend!
See you soon!
