    <p><strong>Job Description/Intern Duties:<span> </span></strong></p>
    <p>The Workshops internship is an opportunity to learn about arts education and programming design while providing valuable support to the Visual Arts Curator. The selected applicant will work closely with full-time staff, resident artists, community-based artists, craftspeople, and instructors on the design, scheduling, and implementation of creative as well as professional development workshops. Candidates should be willing to tackle different tasks each day, both in tandem with the Visual Arts Curator, or other full-time staff, and independently based on the needs of the project at hand.<span> </span></p>
    <p><strong>Ongoing responsibilities include:<span> </span></strong></p>
    <ul>
    <li>• Research and assemble information on current and potential workshop instructors<span> </span>
    </li>
    <li>• Assist in design of workshop structures with instructors<span> </span>
    </li>
    <li>• Assist the full-time staff and instructors with workshop preparation and facilitation when necessary<span> </span>
    </li>
    <li>• Manage workshop schedule<span> </span>
    </li>
    <li>• Act as an information liaison between Creative Alliance and general public during selected high-profile workshop events<span> </span>
    </li>
    </ul>
    <p>Through these activities he/she/they will assist in the creation of marketing material, web content, and social media postings related to scheduled workshops. Interns will leave having had a wealth of experience in every aspect of arts education program development and design. Additionally, she/he will make a significant contribution to the Creative Alliance’s Visual Arts Department.</p>
    <p><br></p>
    <p><strong>Preferred Majors or Areas of Study:<span> </span></strong></p>
    <p>Art Education, Arts Management, Communications, Marketing, Curatorial Practice</p>
    <p><br></p>
    <p><strong>Special Requirements:<span> </span></strong></p>
    <p>Candidates must have working knowledge of Office programs; knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, In-Design, and Photoshop is preferred; knowledge of social media platforms such as Instagram<span> </span></p>
    <p>and Facebook; ability to perform physical labor (lift and sustain 50 lbs, ability to stand on your feet for two hours at a time, etc.) while closely following instructions; ability to write and edit with attention to grammar and spelling; good, conversational phone manners; self-driven, positive attitude; the intern will be expected to work some Friday and Saturday evening workshops (typically ending by 8pm).</p>

    <p><strong>Other Important Information:<span> </span></strong></p>
    <p>This internship will specifically focus on helping to develop and promote art-based workshops. Interns will also have the opportunity to work with teaching artists. Clerical work, including database entry and research, occasional set-up and takedown of events, and some marketing work is involved. Transportation is a plus, but not a requirement.</p>

    <p>The Exhibitions internship is an opportunity to learn about exhibition design and related programming while providing valuable support to the Visual Arts Curator. The selected applicant will work closely with full-time staff on the presentation of artists in the Creative Alliance’s two galleries. Candidates should be willing to tackle different tasks each day, both in tandem with the Visual Arts Curator, or with other full-time staff, and independently based on the needs of the project.</p>
    <p><strong>Ongoing responsibilities include:<span> </span></strong></p>
    <ul>
    <li>• Organize information regarding exhibiting artists (biographies, images, artist statements, label information, etc.)<span> </span>
    </li>
    <li>• Assist the full-time staff and exhibiting artists with installation and deinstallation of artwork<span> </span>
    </li>
    <li>• Manage receptions for artists<span> </span>
    </li>
    <li>• Act as an information liaison between the galleries and general public during selected high-profile special events<span> </span>
    </li>
    </ul>
    <p>Through these activities he/she/they will assist in the creation of marketing material (press releases, show cards, information packets, etc.), web content, social media postings, and help develop related programming, such as gallery talks or workshops relating to the theme or content of each exhibition. Interns will participate in every aspect of exhibition development and design. She/he will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the Creative Alliance’s Visual Arts Department.</p>

    <p>Studio Art, Art History, Arts Management, Curatorial Practice, Art Education, Marketing, Communications</p>
    <p><strong>Special Requirements:</strong></p>

          <div class="html-content">If you’ve got too much to carry, consider stashing some of your books in a locker!  The AOK Library has lockers that can be checked out on a daily or semester-ly basis (for free!).<br><br>​<strong>Daily lockers</strong> are available to UMBC students, faculty, and staff for a 24 hour period. Stop at the Check Out desk to pick up a key.  <br><br><strong>Semester lockers</strong> can be reserved for an entire semester at a time (Spring or Fall).     <br><p><span>The Joseph and Frieda Faiman Eisenberg/VPC Endowed Scholarship is available for UMBC </span><span>undergraduate </span><span>students and the deadline for applying is September 28, 2018.</span></p>
    <br><p><span>The PNC Scholars/Fellows Program is available for UMBC </span><span>graduate and undergraduate</span><span> students and awards can be applied as academic scholarships or “seed funding” for an entrepreneurial venture</span><span>.  Deadline for applying is October 26, 2018.</span></p>

  <Title>BSF Seeks Actors for 2018-19 Education Tour</Title>

    <p>The Baltimore Shakespeare Factory is pleased to announce auditions for our 2018/19 educational shows, Shakespeare’s Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The shows are shortened and arranged for three actors to rehearse and perform in rep.</p>
    <p>Auditions will be held Monday September 24th and Thursday September 27th from 5pm-8pm.</p>
    <p>	No teaching experience is necessary. Familiarity with classical texts is preferred. Access to reliable transportation and daytime availability are required.</p>
