• Master of Library & Information Science degree (or equivalent ALA accredited degree)
• Demonstrated ability and interest in providing dynamic library instruction and contributing to a team-based information literacy program
• Demonstrated ability and interest in the areas of library public services and outreach
• Demonstrated high-quality written and verbal communication
• Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team
• Ability to initiate and lead projects to completion

Shelley Niro (Mohawk, b. 1954) will speak about her art practice, including her work in the current exhibition in the library gallery, Our People, Our Land, Our Images.

“THE WILDLY COLORFUL INK PAINTINGS OF LO CH’ING”

Wednesday, March 7, 2018, 4 p.m. in room 132, Performing Arts and Humanities Building

Dr. Alfreda Murck, author of Poetry and Painting in Song China, The Subtle Art of Dissent and previous Associate Curator of Asian Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art will present a lecture on the work of Lo Ch’ing, the poet-painter. The lecture places the artist in the context of the millennia-long tradition of Chinese landscape painting and coincides with the CADVC exhibition, The Poet’s Brush: Chinese Ink Paintings by Lo Ch’ing. Connie Rosemont will introduce Dr. Murck, the CADVC’s project, and her involvement with the Lo Ch’ing interview for the exhibition catalog.

In her new show, “All She Must Possess,” UMBC assistant professor Susan McCully explores the lives of Baltimore’s Cone sisters, Etta and Claribel, who together built an impressive collection of more than 3,000 pieces of art, including 500 by Henri Matisse. The show, which recently closed out its world premiere at The Rep Stage in Columbia, MD, was part of the 2018 Women’s Voices Theater Festival.

UMBC senior theatre design and production major Isabelle Tabet interviewed McCully about the genesis of “All She Must Possess,” and what it was like to watch her play take shape on the stage.
