Our annual Cangialosi Business Innovation Competition (CBIC) is quickly approaching, and with almost a month to go before the application deadline, we'd like to urge you to start applying as soon as possible.

What is the CBIC?
The CBIC is an opportunity for UMBC students who are serious about starting a business.

Who Should Participate?
Any UMBC student (full or part time, graduate or undergraduate) with a dream of launching their own business soon.

The CIBC will give you "real world" experience.  You'll be paired with a business mentor and you'll get helpful feedback and guidance.  You'll also get connected to the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Course Title:  IS498-02 Special Topics - 3D Printing and Entrepreneurship

Course Description:

Students will learn about digital fabrication and entrepreneurship. The course focuses on 3D printing, an innovative technology that support creativity, rapid prototyping, and personal-scale manufacturing. Students will learn introductory 3D modeling, 3D printing, and financial concepts including service models, retail sales, and e-commerce considerations. Students enrolled in this course will leverage their skills providing 3D printing and design services to the campus, in addition to exploring other applications of 3D printing in prototyping and entrepreneurial ventures.

This course is offered in cooperation with the Shriver Center’s SUCCESS program, an integrated four-year certificate for students with intellectual disabilities. Undergraduate students will work alongside SUCCESS students learning about 3D printing technology and how it can be used to produce, and market printed objects. In leveraging an integrated classroom environment, this course will also teach students concepts of social entrepreneurship with a special focus on employment and community support for people with diverse abilities.

Course Description:

 This course arms student entrepreneurs with an overview and understanding of the new media and marketing landscape. New media have fundamentally changed the way that all businesses approach marketing.  Students in this course can expect to develop a high level understanding of the planning and execution of messaging and engagement within new marketing media. This course will include a combination of both individual and team based projects, (such as blogs, pod casts, and E-mail newsletters).

Organization Description:

Seeking an administrative assistant for arts development project in Baltimore City

Le Mondo is an artist-owned-and-driven project creating a multi-use community hub for music, theater, and performing arts in Baltimore. Comprised of three buildings on Baltimore’s historic Howard Street corridor, the project will champion a diverse community of arts and community organizations, individual artists, curators, and arts-lovers in the city.

The Assistant Public Relations Manager oversees the daily public relations and social media operations of the BSO. Under the leadership of the Marketing and PR Manager, the Assistant PR Manager is a key figure in the effectiveness and overall ability of the communications department to achieve its goal of generating widespread and positive publicity for the BSO as well as building social media followers and interactions.

Baltimore Choral Arts is seeking a full- time Audience Development Manager that handles Marketing, Box Office, and Administrative duties and reports to the Executive Director.

The Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA) is seeking an experienced Human Resources & Payroll Manager to provide administration of human resources policies, procedures and programs. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: payroll; employee relations; benefits administration; employment; electronic timekeeping; and on-boarding.
