    <br><strong><u><br>RESPONSIBILITIES</u>:</strong> The incumbent will provide technical and programming support for hardware and software integral to Library services.  Specific duties include: assisting in determining software upgrade paths for public, staff and system applications; troubleshooting and consulting as needed with DoIT and external vendors, and implementing appropriate solutions; working with the IT Librarian and Manager of Library Technology Operations in planning, implementing and supporting Library IT initiatives; assisting in responding to IT service requests; supporting web development and 
    online services, interactive applications, multimedia components, and interface design; supervising student assistants in projects as assigned; and performing other duties as assigned.  Hours:  Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. subject to change depending on the needs of the Library.
    <br><strong><u><br>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</u>:</strong> Requires a High School Diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science preferred) and two years with the types of hardware and software to be supported, one year of which included user support, user training, and/or programming.  Experience in a library setting is preferred.  Must have: knowledge of network configuration, backup, recovery and security practices; experience with Active Directory and Group Policy; experience troubleshooting networks; experience in developing and deploying computer images for both PCs and Macs; experience in developing and maintaining dynamic, data-driven web applications; experience with installation of operating systems, and documenting standard operation procedures; experience developing and coding interactive web applications using PHP, Ruby, HTML, XML, CSS, SQL, JavaScript, JQuery, AJAX, and/or other common tools. 
    <br>
    Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one 
    has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.	
    <br><strong><u><br>SALARY</u>:</strong> Pay Range 14 (minimum starting salary at $47,302) based on University System of  
    Maryland Pay Program.

    Festival is coming to Baltimore for the first time ever! </span></p>
    
    <p><span>The week-long LightCityU will take
    place between <strong>March 28 - April 3 </strong>throughout the city of Baltimore. The
    week will be filled with concerts, art showcases, conferences, key-note
    speakers, workshops and of course, lights! </span></p>
    
    <p><span>This year, UMBC is sponsoring the
    LightCityU conferences, and President Freeman Hrabowski will be a keynote
    speaker during the Social Innovation conference. </span></p>

    <div><strong>What is the Cangialosi Business Innovation Competition (CBIC)? </strong></div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>CBIC is an opportunity for UMBC graduate and undergraduate students who aspire to fulfill entrepreneurial pursuits. Participants will experience the process of planning a startup business by submitting a competitive and realistic 3-5 page business plan and qualifiers will present their idea in a final competition. </div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div><em>NOTE: the CBIC requires that technology (mobile, web, etc), be a focus of your startup idea. </em></div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div><strong>Who should participate? </strong></div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>Any UMBC student (full or part time, graduate or undergraduate) with a dream, of launching his or her own business and who plans on actively pursuing that dream. </div>

    <div><strong>Why participate? </strong></div>
    <div><br></div>
    <div>The CBIC is a next level competition designed to give aspiring entrepreneurs a real-life opportunity to experience every aspect of launching a startup. The competition will pair you with business mentors from the community and will give you practice presenting your idea to a panel of experts. It will also provide "real world" experience and helpful feedback. In addition to mentorship from real world experts, the program is also designed to connect students to the local entrepreneurial ecosystem. </div>

    <div><span>Otis Redding, perhaps the most famous musician to perform at UMBC, visited the young campus in April of 1967. UMBC was celebrating its first Spring Week (a celebration that would later be known as Quadmania) with a Saturday night dance, featuring well-known musician Otis Redding and his orchestra. Tickets were $5 for UMBC students and $7 for all other students. </span></div>

    <Title>Dresher Center Faculty Working Groups in the Humanities</Title>
    <Tagline>Call for Applications for Groups Forming in Fall 2016</Tagline>

          <p>The Dresher Center invites applications for new Faculty Working Groups in the Humanities. Faculty Working Groups are collaborative, interdisciplinary communities of scholars working on humanities projects, research concerns, or matters of public interest. The Dresher Center provides support for the formation and first-year activities of these groups in an effort to promote intellectual exchange and support research activities in the humanities among scholars across campus. Working groups meet regularly and may also use their funds to travel to sites or archives, host speakers, explore technologies, create new resources or materials, or other similar activities.</p>
          <p> Faculty Working Groups can apply for up to $1,000 in annual support ($500 per semester) for their first-year activities. Priority will be given to groups with at least one member from a humanities department.</p>
          <p>Apply by <span>April 1, 2016</span> for groups beginning or continuing in fall 2016. </p>
