POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Administrative Desk Coordinator is the first point of contact for Chesapeake Arts Center (CAC) via phone or in person. As the ‘face’ of our organization, the successful candidate will be presentable and friendly, with outstanding customer service skills, showing a high attention to detail and follow through, initiative, and problem solving abilities.

]]>What a night! On Thursday evening, The Alex. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (ABCEI) hosted the Idea and Innovation Challenge Finale.
The 2023 event included twelve finalist teams that presented their idea pitches in front of an audience of students, professors, and community members as well as our esteemed panel of judges.
This year, the ABCEI team offered three tracks for students to enter: the Technology & Innovation Track, the Social Impact Track, and the Spark Track.

Join us for a discussion about what all entrepreneurs, small businesses, and start-ups should know about trademarks. We’ll discuss what trademarks are, the benefits of federal trademark registration, and the basics of the registration process. We’ll also talk about why it’s so important for any new business to select a trademark that is both federally registrable and legally protectable. We’ll close out the discussion with a question-and-answer session and direct you to free resources from the USPTO.

I’m pleased to announce that Courtney Hobson will be the new Manager of Programs in the Dresher Center, effective Nov.1. Courtney has done extraordinary work in her time as Coordinator, managing the Humanities Forum and contributing to nearly every aspect of the Dresher Center above and beyond her official duties. Her new role will acknowledge this work and make more formal her role in managing the Forum and other Dresher programs and workshops. She will also step into some of Rachel Brubaker’s former duties as well as partner with me and the Dresher Center team to support and promote humanities work on and off campus. Please join me in congratulating Courtney!
I am also pleased to welcome Jacqui Lom as Administrative Assistant (part-time) in the Dresher Center. Jacqui has been doing a terrific job working with the Humanities and Linnehan Scholars programs and we’re grateful for her willingness to take on some additional tasks in support of the Center. Hello Retriever Entrepreneurs! The Alex Brown Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation has some exciting news! ENTR: 340 - Innovation, Creative Problem-Solving, & the Socialpreneur, will be offered this upcoming spring for undergraduate students!
This course explores approaches to solving specific social problems that are too ambiguous, complex, or messy to be addressed directly through traditional strategies. It seeks to increase the students’ understanding of innovation and creative problem solving through readings, guest speakers, and an outside project. Students will work with a local, socially conscious entrepreneur (socialpreneur) and their organization to develop solution to a real-world problem. The course is designed to be approachable for all undergraduate majors.
It will be taught by Steven McAlpine on Tuesdays from 4:30-7PM.
