The 2021 NIH Proof of Concept Network (POCN) Annual Meeting is taking place this week tomorrow through Thursday, virtually!

The NIH Proof of Concept Network supports academic innovators at early stage of product development to convert scientific discoveries into biomedical products. This innovative model of public-private partnerships leverages resources from the federal government, academia, and the private sector to identify and develop innovative discoveries with scientific and commercial potential.   

At this year’s annual meeting, you will have an opportunity to hear from federal and academic leaders supporting biomedical entrepreneurship, listen to pitches from innovators supported by the network, and learn how the innovators supported by the program have created more than 100 startups and raised more than $1 billion in private-sector funding.

Kayla and Gretta recently presented at the 2021 Changemakers Challenge, and earned a $15,000 investment towards their project, Pennies for Pointe. 

The mission of Pennies for Pointe is to increase the participation of underrepresented populations in dance. Dance improves a person’s mental and physical well-being, social and work skills, and brings communities together.  Unfortunately, safe and effective dance training is expensive and hard to find.  Because of this, it is generally inaccessible to communities of color, lower-income, and other marginalized communities. We are committed to making dance education more accessible, providing necessary supplies and resources for students to train effectively, and exposing youth a part of these communities to the art form.

The duo stated, “You can’t be what you can’t see,” which is why representation is at the heart of everything we do. More than anything, we hope to create positive life changing impacts for young dancers apart from marginalized communities.

Inventory Controller

Position:

Inventory Controller is responsible for inventorying the artwork for three fast paced art galleries including unpacking crates, photographing the art, creating entries for the art into database, wrapping the art for transport.

Successful candidates must have be detailed oriented, self motivated, good with numbers with photography and carpentry skills.

If you are eager to learn, we will teach you the skills necessary to be successful! We value a winning personality over experience and will train the right person.
