Calling all Retrievers, the UMBC Idea Competition Finale is here!

Tonight at 7pm, come join the ABCE for the UMBC Idea Competition Finale!  Eight UMBC students/teams will present their ideas in front of a live virtual  audience and outside judges.  The judges will score in real time and announce who our winners will be! 

All students are up for one of the final prizes ranging from $250 to $750.  This competition is an exciting opportunity to hear new ideas that may even inspire your own! Come check it out, and don’t miss what will be a fun night!

Next week is Global Entrepreneurship Week, and the Alex. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship has gathered events about different topics in entrepreneurship that would be beneficial to our students!  See each event and its description below, and note the times they are taking place. 


Monday, November 8th:

UMBC Entrepreneurs Panel- Pulling Back the Curtain of the Music Industry 12p- 1p 

The Alex. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship has teamed up with the Career Center, Alumni Relations and the Department of Music to put together an awesome panel of alumni speakers just for you!  Chrsitina Barkto ‘16, Dan Kreis ’82. Christine Osazuwa ‘11 and Bruce Tyler will be our featured speakers, joining us from all around the world!  This will be a rare opportunity to get an inside glimpse of what it takes to enter and work in the music industry.

Idea Competition Finale

The Alex. Brown Center for Entrepreneurship hosts the annual UMBC Idea Competition.  This year eight ideas have been selected for the finals, and they will present November 11th at 7pm, via Webex.  After their live pitches are complete, a panel of judges will hold a separate meeting to select the winners.  You’re not going to want to miss this!  Join us through the link below:

Creating a Nonprofit

This event will discuss what it takes to start a nonprofit organization. Stacey Vanek Smith, host of The Indicator from NPR’s Planet Money, will be the keynote speaker. This webinar is based out of Hudson, and will take place at 3pm Eastern.
